LAPAROSCOPIC RADICAL NEPHRECTOMY WITH A GOOD RETROPERITONEAL LYMPHADENECTOMY: HOW DO IT?
Radical nephrectomy is the standard treatment for renal cancer, however, the role of lymphadenectomy remain controversy. Some retrospective studies show benefit in performing retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy in patients with poor prognostic factors, then, patients with high risk (T3/T4, high grade, sarcomatoid histology) or with suspected of lymph node metastases on preoperative imaging are candidates for extended lymphadenectomy.
The purpose of this video is to show the feasibility of performing a minimally invasive radical nephrectomy with extended retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy with a good exposure of the vena cava and Aorta
Case: Young patient 34 years old, male with 9 cm right renal mass, and enlarged lymph nodes in paracaval and interaortocaval chains.
The pathological result was favorable, revealing oncocytoma with 16 negative lymph nodes.
